Mani Parkes began her artistic career after completing an Art Foundation and illustration course and then finally graduating in 1997 with a degree in Visual Communication. Her artwork tends to be inspired by her day to day life- cycling through the bendy streets that are filled with charming buildings, quirky characters and her love of nature. In the comfort of her own home Mani Parkes turns simple sketchbook doodles into paintings, using acrylic paints she creates a muted palette of chalky blues, greys and whites with an uplifting dash of red. Her wish is to capture a quiet moment that makes people smile.
